Decorating For the Seasons – Fall

Fall marks the change from summer to winter. It brings a fresh change and introduces the plentiful harvest as leaves change from yellow to brown. The drop in temperature brings us indoors for cozy nights in front of the fireplace and the pleasure of spending time with family.
Your want your home to be visually appealing to your guests. Your seasonal decorating allows you a chance to express your sense of style, and the fall is an ideal time to refresh the décor of your home. There are many ways that you can do this and do it with style. It may be as simple as adding a touch of burnt orange, rich red, brown or just some fall foliage.

Nature can inspire you and help to bring almost any room to life as it adds balance, beauty, fashion and freshness. Painting is one way that you can make a dramatic change without breaking the bank. It’s economical, easy and influences the room more substantially than any other design element. The burnished fall shades create a sense of simplicity and comfort to any room, regardless of whether you choose lively hues or make more muted choices.

Popular today are the earth tones that speak to us of fall. Fruits like pumpkins, pinecones, apples and yellow corn can provide the inspiration for fall inspired vibrant palettes.

Regardless of how large or small your room is – or how cluttered it is – there is always room for constructing a distinctive themed space. The following are easy strategies and tips that you can try when decorating the different rooms in your house this fall season.

• Start collecting miniature pinecones and gourds and place them in medium size baskets. These look great in an entrance, in front of the fireplace or on the mantel. Make a centerpiece for your table from an assortment of leaves and dried flowers or add a vase of these to a side table.

• Emphasize your couch or chairs in the living room with plush cushions in orange, burgundy, and deep chocolate tones. Offset the cushions and pillows with a blanket or throw in a contrast color.

• Create or purchase a fall wreath made from leaves, pumpkins plus an abundance of gourds. Hanging such a creation on your door is an excellent way to celebrate the fall. If you’re the crafty type, make a few extra to give your neighbors as gifts.

• Create a feeling of comfort and warmth by adding cinnamon scents and some pumpkin spice candles in your bathroom.

Fall is the season where a chill begins to rest in the air. That’s why it’s even more important to find ways to bring extra warmth to your home. Decorating for fall is a great way to do just that!

The Challenges of Carpet Cleaning and Removing Spots and Spills After Parties

With carpeting being one of the most popular choices for floor surfaces in your home it presents many challenges for cleaning spots or spills after a party. People spend thousands of dollars to put carpets in their home and they not only bring warmth and comfort to any room but they also bring an elegance and beauty to your home.

After you have been entertaining guests in your home you will often find spots or small spills of different types of drinks on the carpeting. It is quite common and there’s nothing worse than having to look at the spots for eternity. In many cases every time you walk in a room your eyes go to these marks and it can become quite an irritant if you don’t remove them. Being prepared and having the right tools can quite often make a difference between successfully removing the spots and having the carpet permanently damaged.

This report will give you a few carpet cleaning tips for removing spots and spills on your carpet from drinks. After every family function you should inspect the carpets carefully for added marks. It is much easier to remove these marks immediately then to discover them months later after they have become permanent. One of the best investments you can make to protect the carpets in your home is to buy a wet vac or a spot removal machine. Owning this type of equipment will simplify the process of removing spots because it is important to use the right liquids as well as removing any residue left behind.

Most people when confronted with the challenge of removing a spot or a spill from their carpets will either use the wrong cleaning solution or the wrong method of cleaning. Either solution will run the risk of setting the stain in the carpet and making it a permanent addition. Using common household products such as paper towels, vinegar, ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, a spray bottle and dish detergent will remove most drinks spills. Making sure you always have these items on hand will simplify your spot removal steps and increase the likelihood of success.

The first step to follow when removing any spill from the carpet is to blot up as much of the moisture as possible with a dry white cloth or paper towels. Do not be impatient and start rubbing the spills as this may alter the design of the carpet and cause permanent damage. If you own a wet vacuum you can use this to remove the excess moisture. Removing the excess moisture will allow you to go to the next step and attempt to remove the stain. It is necessary to mix the right solution for the type of spill you are attempting to remove.

When you have a beer, coffee, tea or white wine stain the proper mixture to neutralize the stain is a third cup of white vinegar, 2/3 cup of water and a teaspoon of neutral dish detergent. With pop stains you should add 2 teaspoons of ammonia to the mixture. Put this solution into a spray bottle so that it can be correctly applied to the stains. Do not succumb to the urge of adding bleach as this will only remove the color in the carpet and cause permanent damage.

When dealing with a red wine spill is important not to hit the panic button and run the risk of setting it into the carpet. Use a mixture of 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide and a teaspoon of neutral dish detergent. You can pour this mixture directly to the spill and allow it to sit. If this is done properly you’ll actually see the red wine disappear before your eyes.

After applying any of these mixtures to the spill you should continue to blot with a white towel or paper towels. This is also the time that you can use your wet vacuum or spot removal machine to remove any residue of the stain. If the stain is not completely removed after the first attempt you should repeat the process and continue removing the residue either through blotting or vacuuming. When simple trick after following these procedures is to pour table salt on the remaining stains or wet spots. Table salt will absorb any remaining residue and in many cases prevent the stain from reappearing after it dries. After a few hours when the salt has dried you just vacuum it up.

Following the tips in this report can assist you in protecting your carpets from permanent damage. This can eventually save you thousands of dollars in carpet replacement and maintain the beauty and elegance of the carpets in your home. Using these tips can increase the likelihood of keeping the carpets much longer than you expect.
